David Lynch: Heaven is a place on earth
The director David Lynch died at the age of 78 on 16 January 2025. The American filmmaker, known for his dark and dreamlike work, became a member of the Transcendental Meditation movement in 1973, and practiced the technique for the rest of his life. In this piece, first published in the New Statesman in 2013, he explores his experiences with “the ocean of pure consciousness”.
